C-Jay

They say that image is everything - and with Billabong hoodie and red sneakers, Cjay is already stamping his unique stylistic authority on the music industry. Born and bred in 'Surfers Paradise', Jeffries Bay, Cjay has, been asked whether, as an international artist, this was his first time performing in South Africa!

With his passion for hip hop stemming from his childhood years, and influences stretching from R Kelly, Diddy, Timbaland, to his own mother, Cjay's style now reflects his message of hope and acceptance especially for the youth of today. Cjay has already been gaining international experience and exposure touring, appearing and working with bands such as Delirious, One80 and MIC to name just a few.

His new album THE WAY WE ARE,’ is an eclectic mix of R&B, hip-hop and rap (even in Afrikaans!). One of the many things that make this album special is the perfect blend of stylistic mixes that will appeal to more than just a youth market. It took Cjay almost a year to finish the project and when asked about what he thought of it he said: It was worth all the time I spent on it because this album rocks! If you are an R&B or hip-hop fan, you'll dig this new album. This is music that represents Jesus Christ 100%.”

The production on the album is excellent, but more than that, from the first note, Cjay portrays a readiness to challenge any perceptions of just another artist producing an album in the sea of new Christian “muso” offerings. Cjay is in fact already making waves.

The album is not merely a mix of musical styles, but rather, it’s reflective of an artist ready to break down the barriers of culture and challenge his audience 'to listen outside the box'. And as far as influence goes, it has been reported that at a local Cjay show, even purple haired grannies were jiving and getting down to his funky tunes!

With his new CD hitting the shelves in December, Cjay is planning to promote the album with shows across S.A. He wants to give his audience a concert experience that 'will go with them', influencing their everyday lives with his message:

“My heart is to see young peoples' lives changed. My desire is for them to see God as a loving father.

And with this album, Cjay is ready and longing to bring the pure message of Christian music, to cross cultural and religious divides, and to bring his listeners to a place where catchy lyrics and thumping drumbeats become heartfelt worship for a King .....
